Samsung’s recent U.S. trademark application for the “Samsung Galaxy Gear” suggests the company is working on a new smartwatch.

Finally, there are some concrete information that Samsung is working on a new smartwatch. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office document, the device will be called the Samsung Galaxy Gear. The name refers to “wearable digital electronic devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle capable of providing access to the Internet and for sending and receiving phone calls, electronic mails and messages.” It’s sounds like a smart watch.

Sony has unveiled the SmartWatch 2, a device that is designed to ba a second screen for Android smartphones and offers a range of additional conveniences — including NFC pairing and sharing.

The waterproof device features a 1.6-inch, 220 by 176 pixel screen and acts as a smart watch, a notifier, an Android app interface and a phone remote control. Functions available:
